DNMC Won 2 First Awards in Safety Performance Challenge
      2013.04.08
On April 4, 2013, DNMC, a branch of CGNPC, won 2 first wards for the two indicators of “Capacity Factor” and “Nuclear Safety/Automatic Shutdown” in the EDF International Safety Performance Challenge among Similar Units of 2012.
The two indicators of “Capacity Factor” and “Nuclear Safety/Automatic Shutdown” are the internationally accepted indicators for safety management and operation performance of nuclear power plants.
The Capacity Factor is for measuring the availability of the nuclear power plants. For consecutive 5 years, the Capacity Factor of the GNPS and LNPS has been above 90% and, specifically, was above 92% in 2012, leading the world.
The “Nuclear Safety/Automatic Shutdown” is an important indicator for safety management of nuclear power units. As of March 31, 2013, GNPS realized continuous safe operation of 3,789 days, going 11 years without unplanned shutdown from January 12, 2002. For this indicator, GNPS was ranked No.1 among 64 similar units in the world.
The EDF International Safety Performance Challenge among Similar Units is one of the most authoritative challenges in the nuclear power field in the world. The Challenge was initiated in 1999, with 64 similar units from France, China, South Korea and South Africa participating for contest. As of March 31, 2013, DNMC had accumulatively won 29 first awards in the Challenge.
