The 2nd ASEAN+3 Nuclear Safety Forum Undertook by CGNPC Opened
On 29, June, the 2nd ASEAN+3 Nuclear Safety Forum hosted by the Ministry of Environment Protection, assisted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and undertook by CGNPC, opened in Shenzhen. Li Ganjie, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Director General of the National Nuclear Safety Bureau, Wannarat Channukul, Minister of Thai Ministry of Energy, Xue Hanqin, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, Qian Zhimin, President of CGNPC and the representative of IAEA addressed respectively on the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Liu Hua, Chief of Nuclear Safety Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection. He Yu, General Manager of CGNPC presented.
In his address, Qian Zhimin said that through more than two decades’ development, CGNPC, started from Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station walked a way of introduction, digestion, absorption and innovation. Qian Zhimin expressed that in the precondition of abidance by the relevant rules and regulations of peaceful use of nuclear energy and non-proliferation of IAEA, in line with the principle of equality and mutual benefit, CGNPC was willing to enhance the communication with the international nuclear energy circles in a variety of ways, including to provide support and help for ASEAN members and enterprises who have the needs and to share the development experience of CGNPC.
The forum will last for four days. During the forum, the ten member countries of ASEAN will enjoy extensive and intensive discussions with officials and scholars from China, Japan and Korea, concerning how to enhance the cooperation in nuclear safety.
